SUBMISSION POLICIES
- Indian Journal of Criminology accepts submissions throughout the year..
- All submissions are required to be addressed to the Editor, Indian Journal of Criminology email: indianjournalofcriminology@gmail.com
- All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter that includes the Author's Name, Institutional Affiliation, and the Paper's Topic. In the case of co-authored papers, detailed information about both authors must be provided.
- A declaration to the effect that the manuscript is the author's original work has not received prior publication and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. (attachment)
PUBLISHING POLICIES
PEER REVIEW PROCESS: The Indian Journal of Criminology follows a double-blind review process (where both the reviewers and authors are anonymous to each other) to uphold the high quality and integrity of scholarly publications.
Periodicity: The Indian Journal of Criminology is bi-annual publication. The Periodicity is January- June and July-December.
Submission: Authors are required to submit their manuscripts to the email address of the journal i.e. Indianjournalofcriminology@gmail.com for consideration.
Plagiarism Check: Before submitting the manuscript to review, all are checked for similarity through the plagiarism checker.
Editorial Review: The editorial team conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the submission aligns with the aim and scope of the journal. If it fails to meet the basic criteria, it may be rejected at this stage.
Peer Review Assignment: When the manuscript successfully passes the initial review, it is forwarded to one or more independent experts in the field, known as peer reviewers, for a comprehensive evaluation. These peer reviewers are typically renowned authorities in the subject matter of the submitted manuscript.
Peer Review: The peer reviewers diligently assess the manuscript in terms of its quality, originality, methodology, and adherence to ethical standards. They provide constructive feedback to the authors and offer their recommendations on whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
Author Revisions: If revisions are deemed necessary, the authors are expected to address the comments and suggestions put forth by the peer reviewers and subsequently submit a revised version of their manuscript.
Editorial Decision: The editor, taking into consideration the comments provided by the peer reviewers as well as the revised manuscript, makes a final decision regarding whether to accept, reject, or request further revisions.
Publication: Accepted manuscripts undergo final editing and are then published in the journal. Submission of the articles is a continuous process with no specific dates for both the issues published bi-annually. Accepted articles, if not published in the first issue, will be placed in the next issue. Contributor(s)/Author(s) shall be sent an acceptance letter based on the peer-reviewed acceptance process. A copy of the journal shall be sent to the Author(s) of the accepted manuscripts.. However, the print copy may be purchased by sending a demand for the same at indianjournalofcriminology@gmail.com.
Article Processing Charges:The Indian Journal of Criminology does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APCs) or Article Submission Charges. The journal is supported by NLUD.
Open Access Policy: Open Access Policy: IJC journal provides immediate open access to its content on the core principle that the dissemination of research without charge to the general public contributes to a broader international dissemination of knowledge.
INSTRUCTION TO AUTHORS
- Manuscripts must be in English and should be submitted in softcopy through email at indianjournalofcriminology@gmail.com
- The preferred maximum length for an Article is 7000–8000 words, Essay is 5000–6000 words, Note/Comment is 3000–4000 words, and Book Review is 1500–2500 words, including an Abstract (200–250 words) and Footnote(s).
- All manuscripts shall include an Introduction and Conclusion.
- It shall include an abstract of not more than 200 to 250 words
- The manuscripts should be typed, written and double-spaced on an A4 size Bond paper. The matter should be typed on one side of the paper only, with a wide margin. The length of an article is 15 typed pages. Symbols, formulas and equations must be written clearly and with great care. Excessive lengthy tables and graphs should be avoided.
- References are to be written according to the Harvard Method by giving the author’s name and date of publication in the text, for example (Smith, 2019). The list of References at the end of the paper should be in an alphabetical order of authors.

- Book reviews must contain—the name of the author/editor and book reviewed, place of publication and publisher, year of publication, number of pages, and price.
- The list of references should be at the end of the paper and in alphabetical order of authors in the following form.

- Quotations within a sentence must be enclosed in double quotation marks (“ ”). A quotation within a quotation should be enclosed in single quotation marks (‘ ’).
LICENSE AND COPYRIGHT
Authors who choose to publish their work in the Indian Journal of (IJC) are required to acknowledge that upon publication, the exclusive copyright of their article will be relinquished to the publisher. Furthermore, it is important to note that the aforementioned work will also be subject to a Creative Commons Attribution-BY-NC-ND 4.0 International License, which grants certain permissions and restrictions with regard to its usage and distribution.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE GUIDELINES:
Plagiarism: The paper submitted should not be copied or plagiarised from other published work. Authors should ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Furthermore, the work does not infringe upon any copyright or proprietary right of any third party and should obtain all necessary permissions for the use of any copyrighted material included in the work. In the event that false or inaccurate information is submitted, appropriate measures will be implemented in accordance with the UGC's Regulation-2018 on Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism.
Data Fabrication and Falsification: Researchers must accurately report their methods and findings, and data manipulation or fabrication of results is considered unethical.
Editorial Malpractice: Editors are expected to handle submissions fairly, avoid conflicts of interest, and maintain the confidentiality of the peer review process.
Reviewer Malpractice: Reviewers must provide unbiased, constructive feedback and promptly disclose any conflicts of interest.

Data and Image Manipulation:Any manipulation or falsification of data, images, or results will be considered malpractice.
CORRECTION, COMPLAINTS AND RETRACTION POLICY:
The Indian Journal of Criminology is firmly dedicated to upholding the utmost standards of precision, impartiality, and righteousness in all our published works. We acknowledge that mistakes or inaccuracies may arise sporadically, and we pledge ourselves to promptly rectify and elucidate any such matters. The Journal shall provide amendments, statements of withdrawal, and additional updates after publication, which may include Editor's Notes and Editorial Expressions of Concern related to the published material.
Feedback and Corrections from Readers:
Correction: Corrections will be issued for factual errors, misrepresentations, or any information that can be proven inaccurate.
Publication Method: Corrections will be published in the same format and location as the original content, clearly indicating the corrections made.
Timeliness: Corrections will be made as soon as possible after the identification of the error.
Reporting Errors: Readers are encouraged to report any identified errors, inaccuracies, or concerns to the editorial team via [Indianjournalofcriminology@gmail.com]. The editorial team will promptly investigate reported concerns and, if necessary, issue corrections or retractions.
